Establishment

The Department of Ocean Development (DOD), Government of India, established Ocean Science and Technology Cell (OSTC) in important and premier university departments to initiate investigations on frontier and thrust areas of research. The Centre being selected to establish one among the five cells started throughout the India on various subject areas speaks volumes for its capacity and capabilities. While the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. L.B.Venkatrangan is the Chairman of this Cell on Marine Biology, Dr.V.Sampath, Director of DOD is the Vice-Chairman. The research Co-ordinator is Prof.T.Balasubramanian, Director, CAS in Marine Biology.
